Katy meets... The Spine Space
By Katy O’Regan
There is something instantly reassuring about meeting people who are genuinely passionate about helping others feel better, and that is exactly the impression I was left with after speaking to Hannah, Kieran and Jeremy from The Spine Space.
The Spine Space may be a new addition to Congleton, but it brings with it years of experience. The clinic is the second location from the team behind a long-established Stoke practice, which has grown steadily over 17 years through word of mouth and a strong reputation for patient care. Now, that same approach has arrived at The Retreat in Congleton Market Quarter.
Hannah, director of the business and a paediatric osteopath, explained that the clinic has always been about more than treatment alone. Creating a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable, listened to and understood is just as important. That sense of community is something they have built from the very beginning.
Interestingly, Hannah’s path into osteopathy was not a straightforward one. Originally working in science, she began helping her husband run the Stoke clinic and quickly saw the impact this type of care could have. Watching patients improve, often after years of discomfort, inspired her to retrain while continuing to work and support the business.
Kieran, who is a chiropractor, is an ex-professional basketball player with a wealth of knowledge and experience in keeping mobile, agile and strong. Having seen the benefits of chiropractic care during his career he decided to take his training from the court to the classroom to train as one.
Osteopath Jeremy came into the profession through personal experience. After an injury during military training, he found himself unable to return to the activities he loved. That led him to pursue a career focused on helping others recover and regain their quality of life and the things they love to do.
One of the key things that came through in our conversation was their focus on treating the person, not just the problem. While many people associate clinics like this with back pain, The Spine Space works with a wide range of issues affecting the whole body, from shoulders and knees to jaw tension and mobility concerns.
Rather than focusing purely on a diagnosis, the team looks at lifestyle, daily habits and individual goals. Treatment plans are tailored to each person, with the aim not only of relieving pain but helping people get back to doing what matters to them.
The Congleton location feels like a natural next step. With the original clinic now at capacity, the team had been looking to expand, and The Retreat offered the right environment, alongside other wellbeing-focused businesses. There are already plans to grow further, including bringing additional therapies into the space.
Above all, what stood out was their emphasis on making people feel heard. In a busy world, that simple approach makes a real difference, and it is clearly at the heart of everything they do.
