Discover Pembrokeshire This Year

With many popular Easter break destinations facing disruption this year, and the possibility of European holidays becoming more expensive as summer approaches, perhaps this is the year we look a little closer to home when planning our next adventure.

The UK is full of spectacular places to explore, and one area that deserves a special mention is Pembrokeshire. Just over four hours by car from Cheshire, or easily reached by train to Haverfordwest direct from Crewe, this beautiful corner of West Wales offers dramatic coastline, peaceful villages and some of the most breathtaking scenery in Britain.

Tucked along the coast are the charming villages of Broad Haven and Little Haven, both offering their own unique appeal and the perfect base for a relaxed seaside break.

Broad Haven is one of Pembrokeshire’s most popular beaches. A wide sandy bay stretching along St Brides Bay, it offers plenty of space to spread out even during the summer months. The golden sands are ideal for swimming, surfing, rock pooling or simply enjoying a day on the beach. Families will often be seen setting up games or relaxing as the tide rolls out.

Framed by low cliffs and backed by a welcoming village, Broad Haven has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Cafés, shops and amenities are all within easy reach, making it a convenient and enjoyable spot for a full day by the sea. The beach also provides easy access to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, with scenic walks in both directions offering stunning coastal views.

A short distance along the coast sits the delightful fishing village of Little Haven, nestled at the southern end of St Brides Bay. With its small harbour, sandy beach and collection of cosy pubs, the village has all the charm you would expect from a traditional Welsh coastal community. Local favourites include The Swan Inn and The Castle, both perfect for a relaxed drink or evening meal. For something a little different, visitors should try Lobster and Môr, where shellfish is caught directly off the Pembrokeshire coast by local fisherman Danny aboard the Wren and Rose. Lobster rolls and crab sandwiches are served on fresh rolls baked locally, making for a truly authentic seaside treat.

Adding to the experience, Wildwater Sauna will be bringing a pop-up sauna to Little Haven in 2026, allowing visitors to relax in warmth while enjoying uninterrupted sea views. Just a short distance away is South Cockett, a welcoming family-run caravan and camping site, around five miles west of Haverfordwest and only a mile from the sandy beach at Broad Haven.

South Cockett offers a peaceful and friendly base for exploring the area. From here, visitors can easily access Pembrokeshire’s spectacular 186-mile coastal path, discover hidden beaches, or enjoy outdoor adventures such as surfing, coasteering, paddleboarding and kayaking. Whether you are looking for quiet coastal walks, wildlife spotting or classic seaside days with the family, South Cockett provides the perfect starting point for a Pembrokeshire adventure.

If you are planning your next holiday and looking for somewhere beautiful, welcoming and full of character, this summer might be the perfect time to discover it for yourself.
