Congleton Makers Market
The Makers Market will bring a festive buzz to the town packed full of local gifts and Christmas goodies. Don’t miss the chance to shop on Saturday 28 November and Saturday 19 December (hop on board the free bus on Saturday 19th)!
Christmas Comes to Lawton Street
This year, Congleton’s Christmas celebrations are moving to Lawton Street and High Street, bringing a fresh festive feel to the town centre on Friday 27 November. From 4pm to 8pm, enjoy an evening of entertainment, festive food, shopping and family activities, with the Christmas lights switch-on at 6pm.
The Community Stage at the top of Lawton Street will feature local schools and groups, while the Main Stage at the bottom of Moody Street hosts live entertainment, including Rode Hall Silver Band.
Festivities also include the traditional lantern parade, walkabout entertainment, street food and craft stalls.
The town hall will host a free Santa’s Grotto (fast-track via TicketSource or join the queue), alongside children’s activities, face painting, crafts and SEN-friendly entertainment. The popular reindeer will also return, and an accessible live stream of the main stage will be shown on the town hall screen.
Road closures will be in place from 12pm-10pm on High Street, Lawton Street and surrounding roads.
Free Christmas Bus Day
On Saturday 19 December, Congleton Town Council is using its final free bus day from Cheshire East Council to encourage festive shopping in Congleton. Enjoy the town’s independent shops, unique gifts, cafés and hospitality venues without worrying about parking. All buses within the Congleton boundary will be free, including Beartown routes 90, 91, 92 and 93A/C, plus routes 38, 42 and 94 for the sections of their journeys within the boundary. Beartown buses will also be free in the evening!
Christmas Day Lunch
The Town Mayor of Congleton is hosting a special Christmas Day lunch at Congleton Town Hall, prepared and gifted by Mark’s Events and The Old Saw Mill. The lunch offers Christmas cheer for anyone who might otherwise spend the day alone or be struggling with the cost of the season. Guests will also receive a small Christmas gift from the mayor. Places must be reserved in advance through Congleton Information Centre, with a minimum donation of £2 per person at booking. To sponsor a meal, contact Mark Bailey on: 07722 008421.
Congleton Santa
Congleton Santa tours the town every Christmas, spreading festive cheer and raising funds for local charities. This year’s tour begins on Sunday 22 November. All routes, dates and the many ways to donate can be found on Santa’s website and social media: www.congletonsanta.org.uk
Sparkle, Shop and Celebrate in the town centre
Congleton’s independent shops will be dressing their windows with festive displays once again this Christmas. Take a stroll, admire the decorations and support local traders. With 100 Christmas trees, sparkling lights throughout the town and a festive projection illuminating the town hall, Congleton will be full of Christmas magic!
